What CIMA F3 covers
Financial Strategy (F3) is the Strategic level Financial paper. It covers financial policy decisions, including dividend policy, sources of long-term funds and the capital structure, managing financial risks such as currency and interest rate risk, and business valuation, including mergers and acquisitions.
The F3 exam format
F3 is a 90-minute computer-based objective test, booked on demand at a test centre or taken online. Results are on a scale up to 150, and you need 100 to pass.
Where students lose marks
- Valuation methods. Knowing which method suits which situation matters as much as the calculation.
- Hedging. Forward contracts, money market hedges and options each need a clear method.
- Linking finance to strategy. Questions often ask which choice best fits the company's objectives.
The 2026 syllabus update
CIMA updated its syllabus in 2026. Objective tests follow the new content from January 2026. The exam format did not change.
How TutorPOD teaches F3
Classes are led by Paul William, founder of TutorPOD, who holds CIMA, ACCA and CA Singapore qualifications. F3 lessons work through each technique step by step with real-time problem solving in class, then practise objective test questions under time pressure. You get structured notes and timed mocks with personalised feedback.
Classes run live online and in person in Singapore, in small groups or 1-to-1.
Strategic level papers
F3 builds on F2 Advanced Financial Reporting and sits alongside E3 Strategic Management and P3 Risk Management.
