What CIMA F1 covers
Financial Reporting (F1) is the Operational level Financial paper. It covers the regulatory environment for financial reporting, preparing the financial statements of a single company, applying key IFRS accounting standards, the principles of business taxation, and managing working capital, including cash, receivables, payables and inventory.
The F1 exam format
F1 is a 90-minute computer-based objective test, booked on demand at a test centre or taken online. Questions include multiple choice, number entry and other short-answer formats. Results are on a scale up to 150, and you need 100 to pass.
Where students lose marks
- Under-preparing financial statements. This area is close to half the paper, so weak double entry or standards knowledge is costly.
- Tax principles. Deferred tax and the differences between tax systems need clear understanding.
- Working capital ratios. Mixing up receivables and payables days or the cash operating cycle loses easy marks.
The 2026 syllabus update
CIMA updated its syllabus in 2026. Objective tests follow the new content from January 2026. The exam format did not change.
How TutorPOD teaches F1
Classes are led by Paul William, founder of TutorPOD, who holds CIMA, ACCA and CA Singapore qualifications. F1 lessons build each standard and statement step by step, then practise objective test questions with real-time problem solving in class. You get structured notes and timed mocks with personalised feedback.
Classes run live online and in person in Singapore, in small groups or 1-to-1.
Operational level papers
F1 sits alongside E1 Managing Finance in a Digital World and P1 Management Accounting. It leads to F2 Advanced Financial Reporting.
