What CIMA P2 covers
Advanced Management Accounting (P2) is the Management level Performance paper. It covers managing the costs of creating value, including modern costing approaches, capital investment decision making and investment appraisal, managing and controlling the performance of organisational units such as divisions, including transfer pricing, and risk and control.
The P2 exam format
P2 is a 90-minute computer-based objective test, booked on demand at a test centre or taken online. Results are on a scale up to 150, and you need 100 to pass.
Where students lose marks
- Investment appraisal steps. Tax timing, inflation and working capital each cause their own errors.
- Transfer pricing. Students need to know which price makes sense for each division and for the group.
- Explaining results. Some questions ask what a figure tells management, not just the figure itself.
The 2026 syllabus update
CIMA updated its syllabus in 2026. Objective tests follow the new content from January 2026. The exam format did not change.
How TutorPOD teaches P2
Classes are led by Paul William, founder of TutorPOD, who holds CIMA, ACCA and CA Singapore qualifications. P2 lessons work through each technique step by step with real-time problem solving in class, then practise objective test questions under time pressure. You get structured notes and timed mocks with personalised feedback.
Classes run live online and in person in Singapore, in small groups or 1-to-1.
Management level papers
P2 builds on P1 Management Accounting and sits alongside E2 Managing Performance and F2 Advanced Financial Reporting. It leads to P3 Risk Management.
